Celebrating Tradition Away from Home: Varalakshmi Festival at Jeevith PU College
India is a land of diverse cultures, traditions, languages and festivals. Each celebration carries a unique message of faith, togetherness, gratitude and respect for our rich cultural heritage. At Jeevith PU College, we strongly believe that education is not confined to classrooms and textbooks. It is also about nurturing values, preserving our traditions and creating an environment where every student feels respected, cared for and at home.
With this vision, Jeevith PU College, Yelahanka, Bangalore, comprising both boys’ and girls’ hostels, celebrated the auspicious Varalakshmi Festival on 21 August 2026 with great devotion, enthusiasm and togetherness.
A Festival Away from Home
For many of our hostel students, staying away from their parents and hometowns is a new experience. Festivals, in particular, can make students miss their families, relatives and the familiar traditions they have grown up with.
Understanding these emotions, Jeevith management took the initiative to celebrate Varalakshmi Festival in the hostel campus in a manner that recreated the warm, traditional and homely atmosphere students experience with their own families.
The celebration brought together students from both the boys’ and girls’ hostel campuses, allowing them to participate in the festivities with happiness and a strong sense of belonging.
The objective was simple: no student should feel that being away from home means being away from their traditions.
Preserving Indian Culture and Values
The Varalakshmi Festival was conducted in a traditional spirit, giving students an opportunity to experience the cultural practices associated with the celebration.
At Jeevith PU College, we believe that our cultural heritage must be passed on to the younger generation. In today’s rapidly changing world, maintaining a connection to our traditions helps students understand the values of family, gratitude, discipline, devotion and community.
The celebration also demonstrated that students from different backgrounds can come together respectfully and joyfully, appreciating India’s beautiful cultural diversity.
A Grand Homely Lunch
One of the most memorable aspects of the celebration was the grand Varalakshmi Festival lunch arranged for the students.
A traditional festive meal was served to the students at both the boys’ and girls’ hostel campuses. More than just a meal, it was an expression of care and affection from the Jeevith family.
For a student living away from home, a festive meal can bring back memories of sitting together with parents, grandparents, relatives and friends. We wanted our students to experience that same feeling of warmth and togetherness within the hostel.
Beyond Academics – A Home Away from Home
At Jeevith PU College, our responsibility towards students extends beyond academic performance. We understand that young students need emotional support, care, guidance and a positive environment to grow confidently.
Our hostel is designed to provide students with a home away from home, where academics, discipline, cultural values, recreation and personal development go hand in hand.
Celebrations such as Varalakshmi Festival, along with other cultural and educational activities, help create a sense of community among students. They provide opportunities for students to interact, participate, share experiences and build friendships that often become an important part of their student life.
The Jeevith Philosophy
As an institution, Jeevith strives to create an environment where tradition and modern education move together.
We want our students to dream big, prepare themselves for competitive examinations and achieve their academic goals, while remaining firmly connected to the values that shape responsible and compassionate individuals.
The Varalakshmi Festival celebration was therefore not merely a religious or cultural event. It was a reflection of our commitment to making every student feel welcomed, valued and cared for.
A Message from the Vice Principal
As the Vice Principal of Jeevith PU College, I feel proud to see our hostel students coming together with such enthusiasm and happiness.
When students leave their homes to pursue higher education, they leave behind not only their parents but also the familiar environment, traditions and celebrations that have been part of their lives. At Jeevith PU College, we make every effort to ensure that they do not feel the absence of that warmth.
Our aim is to provide quality education with a homely atmosphere, discipline with care, and modern academic opportunities with strong cultural values.
The smiles of our students during the Varalakshmi Festival were the greatest indication that our effort had achieved its purpose.
At Jeevith PU College, we believe that every student deserves a place where they can learn, grow, celebrate and feel at home.
If you are looking for an institution where academic excellence, competitive preparation, cultural values and a caring residential environment come together, Jeevith is a place where your journey can begin with confidence.
