Inspiring Young Scientists: A Visit to JNCASR
At Jeevith PU College, Yelahanka, we believe that education becomes more meaningful when students get an opportunity to experience science beyond textbooks and classrooms.
On 25 August 2026, our students from the Computer Science stream had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru.
The visit provided students with a fascinating glimpse into the world of advanced scientific research and innovation.
A Glimpse into the World of Great Scientists
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity to explore the C. N. R. Rao Gallery, where students learned about the remarkable contributions of Bharat Ratna Prof. C. N. R. Rao to science and research.
Seeing the achievements, recognitions and journey of one of India’s most distinguished scientists gave students an opportunity to understand that great scientific accomplishments begin with curiosity, dedication, observation and continuous learning.
Experiencing Science Through Experiments
The visit became even more enriching when students were exposed to laboratory-based demonstrations and experiments.
Students had the opportunity to understand chemical kinetics and the factors affecting the rate of a reaction through practical demonstrations. They also observed the Tyndall effect, gaining a clearer understanding of concepts that they normally encounter through textbooks.
The experiments were explained engagingly by Professor Vinayak, allowing students to connect theoretical concepts with practical scientific observations.
What Did Students Gain from the Visit?
- Connect classroom concepts with real scientific applications.
- Develop curiosity towards research, experimentation and innovation.
- Understand how scientific theories are tested through laboratory experiments.
- Gain exposure to the working environment of research laboratories.
- Improve their observation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understand the importance of precision, patience and scientific methodology.
- Interact with scientific ideas beyond the boundaries of their regular syllabus.
- Explore possible future careers in science, technology, research and innovation.
- Appreciate interdisciplinary learning, where Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics and other sciences can come together to solve real-world problems.
- Gain confidence to ask questions, explore possibilities and think like young researchers.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Visits to research institutions can have a lasting influence on young minds. When students see scientists working in laboratories and experience scientific demonstrations themselves, they begin to understand that science is not simply something to be studied for examinations—it is a field where questions become discoveries and ideas become innovations.
At Jeevith PU College, we are committed to providing our students with such opportunities to explore reputed scientific institutions and laboratories.
The visit to JNCASR was therefore not just a field trip. It was an opportunity to observe, experience, question and imagine.
